Court Denies Bail To Arrested Vice Principal, Teachers

The bail request for the three people detained in connection with the alleged sex scandal was denied by the Court of First Instance in Kumba. According to reports, Justice Hannah Itoe espe Egbe, the presiding magistrate, rejected the bail request.

Sex Scandal CCAS Kumba: Court denies bail. Yesterday marked the first court case in the sex scandal in CCAS Kumba. The accused all entered a not guilty plea. Several high-profile lawyers are representatives of this case, both for the defendants and people of Cameroon.

Sex Scandal CCAS Kumba: Accused Facing 12 Count Charges

Reports indicate the arrested school official and teachers, are charge with twelve-count including cyber criminality. According to the 2010 law on cyber criminality, Section 78 sub 1,

” … whoever uses electronic communications or an information system to design, to publish or to propagate any piece of information without being able to attest the veracity or prove that the piece of information was true, shall be punished with imprisonment from six months to two years or a fine of 5 million FCFA to 10 million FCFA”.

The accused, if found guilty, could also spent between six months to two years in prison.

Commission Of Inquiry Into Sex Scandal CCAS Kumba Goes Comatose

While the case is taking new twists as the days go by, many are expressing worries over the prolong delay of the findings. The Commission of Inquiry’s conclusions ought to have been made public at this point. The commission had one week to submit its recommendations for action.

Supposed Victim Goes Underground

There are currently no new developments regarding the alleged victim at the centre of the sex scandal. The presumed victim allegedly spoke with inquiry committee members last week. The suppose victim at the centre of the allege scandal resurface on the school campus last week. She carries a new identity now; Jam Anita Akiambom, 18-year-old in Form Four.
