Recently, Cameroon Check noticed a trend where imposters are sending investment opportunities to individuals on social media and demanding a minimum XAF 30,000 payment for outrageous profits. They can also ask you to modify the email associated with your account. This makes it simpler to hack into your account, change the password, and take complete control of it. After doing this, they pretend to be you and steal from your contacts amongst other possibilities. Beware of social media tricks to defraud you.

A Few Experiences
On June 4th, 2022, a user received an investment proposal from a bogus Instagram account. $10,000 in three hours for $500 worth of bitcoin. Similar messages have been reported by other individuals.
Abdulilah, an Instagram imposter, presents you a puzzle to solve. He guarantees to send $500 if you provide the correct response. However, he starts a ruse for you to change your email to the account before he does it. And when you do, they can remove your access to your account and change the password. Once you are log out, someone else can use your profile to solicit donations from your friends on social media, publish malicious comments, or use the account to sell illicit commodities.
In a similar fraud, an alluring introduction message is sent to boost your ego rather than a puzzle game.
A giveaway is still another strategy. A different strategy, but the same outcomes. Only social media apps like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok are affected by this fraud. Those who have recently returned from a trip may have had their WhatsApp hacked, tricking people in your contacts into sending you money.
Why Your SignIn Verification Is Important
Whether it is an email or phone number, IT professionals explain the need for your phone number or email and how scammers use it. They can access your social media registration information by using your email or phone number, which they then use to access your account. You can access your bank account with this, especially if you utilize electronic banking. Beware of social media tricks to defraud you.
