Antoine Bell, Chides Aboubakar Over Disparaging Comments On Ronaldo

Aboubakar and Ronaldo

Former Cameroon international goalkeeper, Joseph Antoine Bell has chided Indomitable Lions captain, Vincent Aboubakar for making disparaging comments on Ronaldo’s performance. With the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at Saudi side, Al Nassr, it was necessary to free up a place to remain in the quota of foreign players allowed to play.

Cameroonian striker, Vincent Aboubakar was sacrificed by the club. But before leaving the Saudi club, V. Aboubakar bared his mind. He dropped some harsh words, about the one who is responsible for his departure. Speaking to NT Sport, the former FC Porto player said: “I always thought Messi was better than Ronaldo, but after training with Ronaldo, I realised I was right.

But his utterance hasn’t been taken lightly by many football lovers. Former Cameroon international goalkeeper, Joseph Antoine Bell has since questioned the rationale of Aboukabar’s statement.

In an outing, Bell wrote “I do not understand why Aboubakar made this statement. It is unfair to Ronaldo, who has nothing to do with the decision of the Saudi club to part with him. Ronaldo didn’t come in and say that Aboubakar had to be parted”.

“I don’t think Aboubakar speaks Arabic, but he must understand some English. He was sup- posed to know the provisions of the Saudi league on the number of foreign players allowed per club. And therefore know that he was potentially likely not to be retained by Al- Nassr, ” added the former Indomitable Lions goalkeeper.

Aboubakar’s Biography

Aboubakar made 34 appearances for the Saudi club since joining in 2021 and scored 12 goals. The striker will depart the club due to a Saudi League rule which states that a club can register up to 8 foreign players. In order to include Ronaldo in the squad, the club would have had to release one of their existing foreign players and they were aware of it while signing the Portuguese talisman, we gathered.

Aboubakar has mutually agreed to terminate his contract and will be compensated by the club, according to reports in France, quoted by the Daily Mail report. Ronaldo will, however, have to wait until January 22 before he can make his debut for Al Nassr due to him currently serving suspension because of the time he smashed an Everton fan’s phone out of their hand whilst leaving the pitch at Goodison Park in November.

Ronaldo has already sat out one of the 2 match ban during Friday’s 2-0 win over AlTa’ee and will also miss playing against Al Shabab on January 14. He will resume in the 14th round of the Saudi Arabian League against Al Ettifaq on January 22.
