Buea taxi drivers up prices since Saturday 7, January 2023, taxi drivers in Buea and various taxi driver unions have up the price for transportation. The national standard per destination is XFA 250 or XFA 300. This was to respond to the increase in the price of fuel, engine oil, car documents and parking fee in the municipality.
Other factors likes the scarcity of coins, very short distances and passengers compliance with the new policy, they are force to still board passengers for less than XFA 250.
The president of one of the unions Akwe Edwin, mentioned that because of the high maintenance cost, they will figure out a way to still implement high prices.

The cost of vignette document has increased by 33% since December 2022. Vignette for category 7 cars cost XFA 30,000, a 100% increase from original price. Parking fee is at XFA 16,000 for now.
