Camatinal, on Cam 10 TV, airs from 6:30 AM to 8:25 AM, Monday to Friday. The host, Djembissi Christelle, interviewed two AFF Cameroon guests. They talked about the fellowship, and how citizens can participate and contribute to building a culture of peace and tolerance online. AFF Cameroon trains and supports journalists and civil society actors in Africa to fight online misinformation and disinformation.
The guests were Donald Tchiengue, the coordinator for AFF Cameroon and Ngufack Ntemgwa, a fact checker with Cameroon Check and a Cohort 8 fellow of AFF Cameroon. They talked about how they are working to defy hate and promote peace and tolerance online by verifying and fact checking online information, especially on social media platforms, where hate speech and fake news are rampant.

Donald Tchiengue shared the programme’s accomplishments and societal impact. Over 100 media practitioners and civil society actors trained. The core values are to promote fact checking and defy hate in our communities and online spaces. The programme has been successful so far.
Ngufack Ntemgwa gave some tips on how to build peace and tolerance online. They include: being critical and careful of online information, verifying information with credible and independent sources, engaging in intercultural conversations, reporting and flagging hateful, inciting, or misleading information, and promoting and sharing factual, accurate, and constructive information.
Finally, they also discussed their plans and aspirations for the future of fact checking and peace building in Cameroon. Such as continuing their work as journalists and fact checkers, expanding their network and collaborating with others. Also sharing their knowledge and skills with others who are interested in joining the fact checking and peace building movement. And exploring new ways and opportunities to use fact checking and peacebuilding as tools for social change and development.
